Datuk Jamaludin Ibrahim, recently named Asian Mobile Operator CEO of 2007, will
call it a day as Maxis Communications Bhd group CEO at the end of the month.
Under his 10-year leadership, Maxis grew by leaps and bounds. Today, it is the leading cellular player in Malaysia with footprints in Asia’s most populous markets of India and Indonesia.
>In a statement yesterday, Maxis said Jamaludin will retire as group CEO on July 31. He will remain a non-executive director and support Maxis CEO Sandip Das in his additional direct duties and responsibilities for taking the group’s regional business to the next stage.
>The statement also announced Jamaludin’s appointment to the board of Maxis parent, Binariang GSM Sdn Bhd, but did not say when.
